Mauritius has distinct legal professions. A barrister advises and advocates for your position. An attorney, or avoué, may conduct the procedural side of a matter. A notaire, meaning a Mauritian notary, has a separate formal role in property, matrimonial and succession work. The correct combination depends on the issue.
